Gender Pay Gap

The gender pay gap has fallen to its lowest level yet, according to research. Data released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) showed the median difference in full-time hourly pay reached a record low of 8.6% in the 12 months to April 2018, down from 9.1% the previous year. Despite progress being made, the TUC said that the current pace of change meant that it would take another 55 years for men and women to achieve pay parity. Earlier this week, thousands of Glasgow workers took part in one of the UK’s biggest strikes over equal pay.
