Description

Our client is looking for a researcher to work on systematic literature reviews and data identification for projects in the pharmaceutical, healthcare and finance sectors. The successful candidate will have a Masters level degree or higher in a biomedical subject with previous experience of working on a systematic review of the medical literature, and will be able to work full-time at our office in South Essex.

Tasks will include the following:
• Running pre-specified searches of established medical literature databases (PubMed, Embase, Cochrane library and others);
• Searching the internet for additional sites with suitable resources for literature reviews;
• Collating search results into EndNote;
• Screening abstracts in a spreadsheet for relevance for the review, using pre-specified inclusion criteria;
• Retrieving full text versions of relevant papers and screening them for relevance;
• Extracting relevant data from the papers into specific fields in a Text document table or spreadsheet;
• Assisting with report writing and amendments;
• Taking minutes of client meetings;
• Manual uploading of citation details of HTA reports and journal publications into an online database;
• Identification of published data to help to parameterise a disease or mortality model.

Essential skills and experience:
• Competence in using word processing and spreadsheet software;
• An efficient, logical and consistent approach to identifying and processing large amounts of data;
• A basic understanding about medical research methods;
• Good communication skills and able to write fluently and comprehensibly in English;
• Good attention to detail;
• Able to prioritise tasks appropriately across multiple projects so that deadlines are met;
• Able to work effectively in a small team
