  • An efficient, logical and consistent approach to identifying and processing large amounts of data;
  • A good eye for detail - you can’t resist correcting typos and formatting errors; you always make sure your written work is accurate and appropriately referenced to source documents;
  • Fast working and productive – you are comfortable working at speed and juggling tasks; you are good at meeting deadlines;
  • Team-worker – you are good at collaborating and sharing tasks with colleagues; you take pride in supporting the team in delivering high-quality work;
  • Honesty and reliability – you are known for doing what you have promised to do; you are open about difficulties you have experienced with work-related tasks and eager to learn how to avoid them in the future.

Essential skills and experience:

  • An understanding of basic statistics including regression methods;
  • Competence in using Microsoft Word and Excel;
  • Legally entitled to work in the UK.

Tasks will include the following:

  • Running pre-specified searches of established medical literature databases (PubMed, Embase, Cochrane library and others);
  • Searching the internet for additional sites with suitable resources for literature reviews;
  • Screening abstracts in a spreadsheet for relevance for the review, using pre-specified inclusion criteria;
  • Data extraction, cleaning and transformation ready for use in models;
  • Construction of epidemiological, actuarial and economic models.
  • Identification of published data to help parameterise disease or mortality models.
  • Retrieving full text versions of relevant papers and screening them for relevance;
  • Extracting relevant data from the papers into specific fields in a Text document table or spreadsheet;
  • Assisting with report writing and amendments;
  • Manual uploading of citation details of HTA reports and journal publications into an online database;
